PSYCHIC EXPERT TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,— Your supplement on Saturday quoted the experiences of Mr. J. Godfrey Baupert, who admits "spirits do produce marvellous phenomena," but declares they are evil powers, impersonating spirits of the dead. I Cannot agree that all are evil impersonators. The Bible asks us to test the spirits, whether they be of good or evil. In this world we know that there are evilihinded people as well as good, and sd in the next state of existence the evil minded must bd exactly what they have made themselves by then* material hie until such time as they progress in spirit life (as they sowed, so they reap). 1 have no desire for priestly domination any mote than 1 have lor spirit governance. Qu6ting frOm a London paper fit 30th December last, We learn that Dr. Kaupert is a Roman Catholic, having changed from the ministry of the Cliurcfi of England five years ago. and Was gent to America with the sanction of the Pope to suppress Spiritualism. _ Jestts, out- highest ideal, was not unnoticed by the priests of his day, who declared him mad and possessed of a devil, and this same" Jesus experienced and taught the communion of saints, and also requested us to bear with one another's opinions. Spiritualism is to me the highest type of Christianity, but 1 do not confuse it with Spiritism and the working of signs and wonders, of frauds and quacks working under the name of Spiritualism. The Psychical Research Society, of which ltev. J.
