He stated that it may be possible to arrange for lectures to be given occasionally in the city and suburbs, and in some of the outlying country towns. It .was of the utmost importance if the worlQ was to extend as it should that the finances should be placed on a firm foundation, and he suggested that a loan of £2500 or £3000 be raised. Such would place the society beyond anxiety as to the payment of its officers. The scheme should be rjuite separate from the usual contributions. The speaker also referred to the valuable services of their inspector. Mr. Seed. As the society's field of operations was very extensive, he considered that an assistant inspector was needed. The work was by uo means confined to the city of Wellington and its suburbs, for places a& far distant as Shannon and Feathprsfcnt) camo within their bounds. ]t, wa» thus quite impossible for Inspector Sped to krep a 'watchful eye on (he uholc uf &o bt'ge a 'district.
