NEW ZEALAND FINANCE
STATEMENT BY THE HON. J. ALLEN. (BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, 14th January. In conversation with a reporter to-day, the Hon. J. Allen, Minister for Finance, stated that the total revenue of the Dominion for the nine months ended 31st December amounted to £8,314,343, as against £8,162,645 for the corresponding period in the preceding year. This does I not include territorial revenue from land . sales, which is now paid into the Land for Settlement Account. If that revenue were included the total increase would be about £200j000. Railway revenue was somewhat disappointing, partly owing to the smallpox epidemic and partly owing to the strike. It may recover, but the Minister does not anticipate that it will come up to the estimate. The figures for the nine months ended December are :— j REVENUE ACCOUNT 1 Receipts.
