The Auckland Union Secretaries' Association circularised all the unions, stat. ing that the conference regarding the arbitration law proposed by the Ohinemuri Mines Batteries Employees' Union was engineered by the employers, and suggesting a conference of genuine unions in Auckland. Enquiries made locally show that the Auckland proposal is not honoured. Union leaders say the conference was valueless, since the breach between the workers and the Government is too wide to be bridged by any recommendations.
