WESTLAND JUBILEE
HOKITIKA,- 16th December. A meeting' of the Westland jubilee celebrations general committee was held to-night, when there was a representative attendance. A letter was received from the secretary of the West Coasters' Association, Wellington;, suggesting that in 'view of the strike 'Axe function should be postponed. Tho question was fully discussed, and it was unanimously decided to adhere to the original programme (which is to commence on-7th January), as tho arrangements were so well advanced. It was reported that a large number of people from all parts of the Dominion had written, intimating their intention of being present, and in view of the fact that they had made theii 1 arrangements, it was deemed unwise to depart from'what had been decided upon. An elaborate programme of entertainments has been arranged, and the various amusements which are to be provided are calculated to add con* siderably to the enjoyment of visitors. Special facilities lor visiting Lakes Kanieri and Mahinapua and other scenic resorts are included in the attractions, And the celebrations generally should mark an important epoch in the history of Westland.
