LIFE-SAVING
o MEETING OF WELLINGTON CEN-. TRE. /Mr. G. S. Hill presided over a meeting of the Wellington Iload Centre of the Royal Life Saving Society held last evening. In response to a request, the Paekakarilci Club was granted the sum of £7 6s for the purchase of a reel. It was mentioned that the club now had three welltrained teams. Mr. R. C. Wood, secretary of the centre, tendered his resignation, which was received with regret, and he was accorded a vote of thanks for the services he had rendered in that capacity. Mr. W. Collior was elected to till the vacancy, and Mr. Wood was appointed -a member of tho exeoutive. Messrs. Neal, Ellis, and Somervillo were appointed a committee to select and coach a team to compete for the Wigram Life Saving Shield, at the New Zealand Swimming Championships to be held at Blenheim on the loth, 18th, 20th and 23rd February, 1913. It was decided to approach tho Wellington Swimming Centre, with a view to making a joint application to the City Council for mixed bathing at To Aro Baths. Intimation was received from the Town Clerk to the effect that the society's application that free passes be granted to instructors in life-saving for admittance to the city baths would receive consideration.
