BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
FEDERATION CONFERENCE NOT YET FINISHED DECISION STILL BEING AWAITED. The Federation Conference, which commenced deliberations on Friday last, was again in session to-day, but the customary secrecy as to its proceedings was maintained. There seems to be some Kkelihood of a settlement being effected so far as the seamen are concerned, apart from any decisions that the conference may arrive at, and negotiations in this direction are still in progress. From what can be ascertained there appears to be a strong probability that an announcement of vital importance in this respect may be made almost hourly. Mr. P. H. Hickey, the secretary of the Federation, stated to a Post reporter this afternoon that the conference had not yet finished discussing the situation. Possibly there might be something ito divulg© oft the following day.
