CHINESE RAILWAYS
BRITISH COMPANY SECURES CONTRACT. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) LONDON. 15th December. The Pekin Government ia signing a contract with Pauling and Company, of London, for tho construction of an 800mile line of railway, from Shansi, in tho province of Hupeh, to Sing-y-Fu, in the province of Kwei Chow, via Changteh and Changsha. The agreement provides that the construction work shall bo by contract. Also Messrs. Pauling are raising loans to defray the cost of the projected line, which links up Hankow with the distant provinces by connecting with the future French Yunnan-Nanning-Fu line.
