INTER-COLLEGE MATCH WELLINGTON v. WANGANUI. The ' annual inter-collegiate cricket match , between the first elevens of the Wanganui and- VVelUngton Colleges was commehced on tho Wellington College ground yesterday afternoon. The visitors had an easy victory last year, when tho match was played at Wanganui, and on this occasion th«jy have made a creditablo beginning. Salmond, the visitors' captain, won the toss, and elected' to bat. When the innings closed the Wanganui lads had compiled 182 runs, but not before numerous comparatively easy catches had been dropped. The fielding of the local boys indeed showed room for improvement. The beßt batting exhibitions were given by Bernau, Caldwell, Salmond, and Beattie. The local boys following on, could do very little with the balls sent down by Bernau, who bagged six wicketa at a cost of 20 runs. At the call of time Wellington's score stood at nine wickets for 40 runs. Details :—: — Wanganui.— First Innings.
