WOMEN IN THE THICK OF IT

One of the most conspicuous features of the meetings in tfie Post Office-square has been the comparatively large number of women there during the past few days. Some women are engaged in distributing strike literature, and are, therefore, in the Square on business, but by far the greater number of tho women go there, it seems, out of sheer curiosity, and come of them with babies. Possibly many of them are alighting from or are waiting for tramcars which stop in the Square. At any rate, for the present, while any trouble may arise in a moment, as it did last evening, it would seem to bo but following the dictates of common-sense if women passengers by car alighted from them or joined the cars at some other point than the Squaroj and the others who are not there on business should avoid it by all means until the trouble is over.
