{shortly after o o'clock this morning thp police discovered a flro amongst n Pilo ot straw on. tho upper floor oi tha New Zealand Shipping Company's brick store on Waterloo-quay, close to llw Post and Telegraph Department's new btores. Tho brigade promptly responded to a call, and on reaching the building found that the flamco hud exlendnd to a large quantity of fibre matting. A fine supply oi water was available and the outbreak wss coon- suppressed. Tho damage done was not extensive. The building, which is two stories high, coa-i tamed Blnca' etoros,
