THEATRICAL COMPANIES PLIGHT
The two theatrical companies of the Williamson firm, "The Quaker Girl Company" and Genee and the Russian dancers are the innocent victims of the strikers' conduct- The Quaker Girl Company's scenery is still awaiting shipment South, and thß Genee Company, which terminates its season in the ordinary course on Saturday, is by no means certain yet that it will get away to Christchurch. Mr. C. Berkeley, the manager of this company, is by no means assured that the dancers, or at any rate the scenery and properties, will get away. He has had a number of interviews on tho subject with the Strike Committee, all more or less hopeful, and Mr. Berkeley has always been courteously received by the committee, who seem themselves to be genuinely anxious to meet his wishes it" the bulk of the men will agree.
