GRAY'S CHALLENGE

In regard to Gray's challenge to play anyone with ivory balls, 18,000 up, level terms, it transpires that Richard Wootton, the trainer, is the Australian billiard player's backer. Wootton is willing to back Gray up to £500 aside. He prefers a match with Stevenson, owing to the latter's admitted superiority with ivories.
