DECLARATION BY UNION
SEAMEN READY TO JOIN IN MR. SEMPLE AND THE MINERS. (BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Press Committee of the Watersiders' Union states that the seamen are ready to stand by them. .The seamen on the barque Canopu* refused to load bricks into uiat vessel. Mr. Semple states .that the coal miners of the Dominion were ready absolutely to a man to take action when called upon. ATTEMPT TO DISCHARGE TOFUA. This, afternoon the Union Steam Ship Company's permanent workers attempted to discharge the fruit from the 'T-of us. A sling of cases of bananas was landed on the wharf, and was immediately rushed by hundreds of strikers, who,redfused to 'allow the cases to be /wheeled into the shed. The police — Superintendent Mitchell, and a force of constables — attempted to, clear the way. Eventually it was decided to let the fruit> back on to the ship, which was done amid loud cheers from the strikers.
