MAIN TRUNK LINE NORMAL SERVICE RESUMED. AUCKLAND, 27th October.' Normal service on the Main Trunk railway has been resumed after an interruption of three ' days, caused by land-slips and wash,-outs. The first train to complete the journey from Wellington to Auckland since the arrival of the second express on Thursday arrived at 11,30 a.m. to-day. It was followed fby the second express, which, having left Wellington at the usual hour on Sunday,, arrived punctually at 4.11 p.m. The journey made by the first train occupied nearly 48 hours. Itrwas despatched from Wellington at mid-day on Saturday, and held at Marton until 3 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. The line was then reported clear, but another slip occurred near Mangaweka, and the train was dekyed at Taihape for three hours. Passengers by the train stated that there was litfcle sign of serious damage by the sudden Hood. Advice xias been received here tonight that, the express which left Wellington at", mid-day *" had reached Marton without delay and would reach Auckland at the usual hour, .7 o'clock tomorrow morning. All the southern mails are again being carried by rail.
