ELECTRIC LIGHTING
MIRAMAR'S PROPOSALS. The proposed scheme for the municipal electric lighting of Mira&ar cropped up at last night's meeting of the Borough Council, when a copy of a letter was tabled which was Tecently sent by the council to Mr. Black, consulting engineer, asking for certain estimates and particulars. In' the letter Mr. Black was asked to revise his previous estimate, dated 31st October, 1911, so ac to bring it up to date. The council's approval of his recommendation to alter the voltage from 230 to 100, as originally reported, altered the position. The council stated that before giving the City Council notice of its intention to take over the lines, it considered it advisable to have an estimate of the amount it would be required to pay to the city. The report was to outline tho area (proposed to be served and the main service lines. The City Council would be asked to furnish a revised schedule of their plant in tho district, and also to authorise their electrical engineer to give Mr. Black any further information that might be necessary. The cost of altering private connections would probably be borne by the Borough Council, and should be allowed for in the estimate. The anticipated annual revenue and expenditure could be ■compared with the present cost to the borough for elctric lighting, £562. The council also instructed Mr. Black to see the Public Works Department with reference to the matteT of Tunning elec*trlc mains through the district, and to submit a draft license for the council's approval. Mr. R. L. Mestayer, consulting engineer to tho council, reported that tho contractors, Messrs. J. J. Niven and Co., were making good progrfws with the erection of the electrical ftlant at the power station.
