PICTURES AT LOWER HUTT.
At the King George Theatre, Lower Hutt, to-moriow afternoon and evening, the management will present a special programme of , attractions. "The Weaker Vessel," a coloured drama by* the Pathe Co., will be the principal feature, while many ■ of the Jatest productions in comic, Bcenic, and dramatic subjects will find a place on the programme. On Monday a complete change, bonded by, "Leah, tht Forsaken," .will be press£ttfid.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The all-round merit of th© current programme of vaudeville at His Majesty's Theatre is being rewarded by crowded attendances every night. The finished acrobatic and trapeze turn of Desperado and La Rose has won much applause at each appearance of this clever pair, while the musical accomplishments of Miss Gabrielle Hope are also appreciated. The antics of "Foolieh Ford succeed in making much fun, and others contributing to the programme arc — L& Perlo (contortionist), Lily Vockler, Delevale and Gilbert, the Three Breenes, and Miss May Brilliant. THE KING'S THEATRE. At Tho King's Theatre th© picture drama, "Shipwrecked," occupies premier position on a well-selected programme. "Shipwrecked" depicte many finely conceived and cleverly portrayed scenes of the adventures of a shipwrecked party on a lonely island. Other interesting films are — "Tho Pathe Gazette" (which depicts, among many other items of interest, a view of tho launch of one of the latest Dreadnoughts), "The Husband's Trick," and "Cohen's Warning." THE EMPRESS THEATRE. Tho loading subject of the programme now _ appearing at the Empress Theatre continuous pictures is tho A.B. Company's featuro drama, "Th© Adopted Brother." A youth who has been adopted by a poor family ie imposed upon i>y his foster brother, who takes money from the former to spend it upon drink with an evil associate. These two loafers violently assault and rob an elderly man, the adopted brother being the 6ole witness of th© crime, and sooner than see an innocent man go to gaol for the deed, he discloses the truth to the Sheriff. When the two thieveis, escape from prison, they immediately seek revenge, but are foiled and pay tho penalty with their livco. The Kalem Company's drama, "The" Blind Baskot-weaver," is a (pathetic story of two girls who love a blind basket-maker. A kind-hearted surgeon undertakes to iestore the man' 6 sight. One of the girls is a cripple, but her infirmity is not known to the basket-maker, and she, realising that when tho man is able to see he will prefer her sister, throws herself over a cliff. There are also — "The Drop of Blood," "Historical Hastings" (scenic), "Alexandria" (aoenes in Egypt], "Middleeox Yeomanry in Camp 1 , "Auntie's Affinity," and "Her Wooden Leg." . Pleasing selections are contributed by the Empress full orchestra. SHORTT'S CONTINUOUS PICTURES " The Web " is the star item at Shortt's Theatre. Beatrice Esmond fascinates Lester Phillips, who determines to gat dear of complications, partly caused by the jealousy of Zolan, the real lover. After a quarrel Zolan shoots his sweetheart, and Phillips is arrested for the murder, but his character is cloarod by his fiance, while Zolan is brought to justice. " The Heart of a Doll," a pretty story of a child, and a little comedy, " A Chip of the Old Block," are other features.
