CONSPIRACY CHARGE
SHACKLETON AND GARLICK FURTHER EVIDENCE 'A COMPANY ORGANISER'S 4 TESTIMONY, ' i By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received October 23, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, 22nd October. , At the trial of Francis Shackleton, formerly of the Dublin Castle staff, and Thomas Garlick, an accountant, on a charge of conspiring to defraud Miss Josephine Browne of the sum of £12,000, Shackleton'a secretary testified that Miss Browne's solicitor had refused to receive her share certificates because they were not accompanied by £1000. Douglas Steuart, organiser of the Celtic Trust — in which Miss Browne was supposed to have had 6000 shares, and from which company Shackleton had hopes of making a big profit — testified that when ha sold Shackleton 1200 shares in the Celtic Trust the trust had large and valuable interests. The further hearing of the charge was adjourned.
