AT THE PATENT SLIP

Atthe Patent Slip there were 24 men at work yesterday. To-day twelve turnedi up to go to work, but. they were called upon to down tools, which they did. The steamer Natone was on the slip when the trouble arose and was then in such a state of repair as prevented her coming off. However, work has been finished on her now by loyal hands and she is afloat. There was a hulk on the slip also, but she has been put into the water again. The steamer Pateena was taken up to-day for general overhaul. It was thought that she would have had to lie out in Evans Bay idle if the shipwrights were not available.
