At the meeting of the Wellington Branch' of the Land Values League held last evening, Mr. Withy announced that the Hon. G. Fowlds had accepted an invitation to attend the annual social next Week. Mr. F. W. Burke moved : — "That this league affirms that the purpose of land value taxation is twofold— to ensure the equitable division of land, and to institute a juet and permanent revenue, and in so far as a graduated tax would compel the division of land it must necessarily involve the loss of t Tevenue from land values. This league*' therefore dissociates itself entirely from tho demand for an increase of the graduated tax, but reiterates its demand for a flat tax on land values without exemptions or graduations." Mr. Withy seconded the motion. The unearned increment of land was, he said, the natural source of public revenue, and everybody must pay his share of State-created privilege in the 1 form of land values. After gome discus- ' sioii the motion was agreed to.
