CRICKET
ST. DAVID'S CLUB. The third annual meeting of the St. David's Cricket Club, Petone, was held on Thursday evening in the club rooms. Mr. H. E. Haggett presided over a large attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet for the preceding year were read and adopted. The report congratulated the club on its performance iv the third class championship last year, and expressed confidence that the club would do even better in the coming season. In tho matches last year the team played nineteen games, winning thirteen, and losing six, gaining 31 points in the championship, and ending fourth on the list. The batting averages ,were headed by D. Wilson with an average of 16.1, and A. M. Thompson with an average of 15. R. W. M'Connell was the most successful bowler with 40 wickets at seven runs apiece, and J. M'Connell was next best with 38 wickets for 8.8 >'uns apiece. • The balance-sheet showed that the seaeon had been carried on without loss, but the finances of the club were still in an' unsatisfactory position, and called for efforts on -the part of the members to put them on a firmer basis. Several amendments of the rules' wero made, and the following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. W. Burd; vice-patron, Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P. ; president, Rev. A Thomson ; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. G. Lodder, H. E. Haggett, S. Brice, J. Lynskey, W. Gorrie, J. C. Duff, J Hardy, H. L. Arcus, W. Stewart, J. Cotton, H. Naughton, R. Donoghue, D. Robertson, B. Robinson ; club captain, Mr. L. Gosjiey ; ' secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. M'Connell; auditor, Mr, H. Green ; management committeo, Messrs. J. M'Connell, A. Thomson, H. Parrant, and D. Wilson ; scorer, Mr. L. Little ; delegate to association, Mr. R. W. M'Connell.
