Four pairs of competitors. Soprapo solo (amateurs)~R. Carr (Dunedin), 90, 1 ; Jessie Crawford (Roslyn), 88, 2; Carrie Astin (St. Clair), 80, 3. Twelve entries. Vocal solo, (gentlemen), own selection and accompanist — J< H. Cocks (Christchurch) and Miss M. Davenport, ,90, lj W. E. M'Kinlay (Dunedin) and Miss Rita Isaacs, 75, 2. No third place award. Fifteen entries. Recitation (Shakespearean) — Miss Ivah Cran, 83, 1; Miss Elsie M'Peak, 82, 2; Miss Lilian King, 75, 3.! The judge made special reference to^ Miss Carr's voice. He said sho had a big future if she studied hard, and would be heard of beyond Dunedin.
