CUSTOMS REVENUE
The Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington last month was considerably greater than the takings during tile corresponding period last year, the respective amounts being £80.726 10s lOd and £69,492 8s Bd, an increaso of £11,234 2s 2d. The beer duty collected last month amounted to £962 13s 3d, as compared with £1072 12s 9d taken in August last year.
An application has been received by the City Council from the Kelburne Tramway Company for the supply of electric current to run the company's cable car service as an alternative or substi-, tute for the present steam plant. The Tramway and Power Stations Committee of the City Council had the matter under consideration this afternoon. A raillinory and ladies' outfitting business, situated in Csrterton, is advertised tor sale. The only railway refreshment room at Palmerston North is situated on tho platConn, and in a bill conducted by Mr. J. fl, Fletcher.
