LONDON CITY MISSION

GRATEFUL FOR NEW ZEALAND HELP. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, 18th July. The June number of the London City Mission Magazine records the return of th© Rev. Martin Anstey, who came back from his visit to New Zealand bringing £76 4s 8d for the funds of the mission from friends in the Dominion. The Ma-izin© says : "We- tender our sincere thanks to all who have responded to his appeal in this hour of need. Mr. Anstey went out with his wife and two daughters to visit his brother, the Hon. John Anstey, M.L.C. (Timarn). On his way out he was welcomed by th© Lord Mayor of Melbourne, who gave him a civic, reception in th© Town Hall, and by the Lord Mayor of Sydney, who arranged a. private recital on th© city organ." In New Zealand, adds the ' Magazine, Mr. Anstey preached and took up collections at Auckland, Eilesmere, I Rotorua, and Timaru. He. also lectur-' ed on the "Romance of a London Slum" at Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. He received subscriptions also from friends on board the Orama on the outward journey, and the Remuera on th© return home. Mr. Anstey received a warm welcome from his brother, who motored him from place to place, covering altogether 700 miles, for various religious services, etc., and from Mrs^John Anstey, who collected a considerable proportion of the amount received for the mission. Mr. Anstey appealed for a sum of £100 per annum from New for the support of a "Dominion" missionary, or £25 from each of the four cities— Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, and this amount, together with other sums from other places in New Zealand, he hopes, in due course, to receive. I may mention that Mr. Frank Taylor, of Wanganui, has been for th© last two years working for the London City I Mission.
