TRAMWAY WORKERS' BALLOT
DUNEDIN, 28th August. A ballot htte just been completed of memberu of ithe local Tramway Workers' Union on four^issue* submitted to them. The voting was as follows I'll) Are you in favour of joining the United Federation of Labour and the Social Democratic PArty?--Y«, 15 ; no, 132. {%) Are you in favour of joining the United Federation only?— Yes, 3: -\o, 140. (3) Are you in favour of joining the Social Democrat Party ooly?— Yes, 8; no, 139. (4) Are you In favour of continuing in the United Labour Party as at present? —Yes, 36; no, 109. Out of a total of 200 members, 160 voted. It is understood^ that the objective of the tramway men is to consolidate their internal organisation irrespective of the organised Labour movement.
