WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. The following steamers will probably be within wireless range to-night:— Victoria, Riverina, Moerakl, Maunganui, Marama, Wahine, Aparima Makura, and Manuka. MORAYSHIRE LEFT CAPETOWN. Continuing tier voyage from Liverpool to Wellington, via Capetown, Hobart, and Auckland, the F. and S. Line's steamer Morayshire sailed from the South African port on Wednesday last. She Is due at Auckland about the 28th September, and here about a week later. MAUNGANUI SAILS, AT 9 O'CLOCK. t On account of the large amount of cargo offering and also for the convenience of the British Parliamentary party, which wishes to travel by the Sydney boat, the Maunganui's departure for Sydney direct has been postponed from 5 until 9 o'clock this evening. MATATUA, FROM MONTREAL. After an uneventful voyage from Montreal, via Australian ports and Auckland, the steamer Matatoa, which is running under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company, arrived in port and berthed at the Queen's Wharf to continue discharge. The vessel next goes on to Lyttelton and Dunedin, proceeding from the latter port to Australia to load for Home. INTERESTING ARRIVAL AT DUNEDIN. A recent arrival at Dunedin was the steamer Ihumata, from Fabre Island, via Noumea and Westport, with a full load of guano. Owing to her belated arrival (says a southern exchange) It woti sUr*ised that the vessel had encountered heavy weather whilst loading at the island, but her chief Officer (Mr. Robertson) stated that during the 33 days that she was loading the vessel never left her moorings. From all accounts, the loading facilities are not conducive to quick despatch, the guano being conveyed from the island in two punts, the latter being towed back and forth by "a sort of an oil launch," as it was described by those on board. To make matters worse, one of the punts foundered in deep water, and as only one punt was thereafter available! the loading of the Ihumata became tedious in the extreme, and 33 days elapsed before the vessel was able to get her full cargo. By that time her coal supplies had run rafther low, and when the vessel left the island on the 12th August, Captain Behton m»de for Noumea to obtain coal, arriving there on the 14th August. Two days later she resumed her voyage to Dunedin, visiting Westport en route for bunker supplies. Fine to moderate weather prevailed throughout the trip until Foveaux Strait was reached on Tuesday, when some strong southerly winds and high seas were met with coming along the coast. The Ihumata is commanded by Captain Benton, who has the following officers associated with him :— First, Mr J. Robertson ; second, Mr Deiamottei first engineer, Mr Finlayson; second, Mr RogersOn; third, Mr Tompson. PERSONAL. ' Mr. D. Harkness, second officer of the Moerakl, left that vessel at Wellington yesterday. FOR THE COASTAL SERVICE. It Is probable that the Huddart-Parker steamer Westralia, which is to run in the Auck-land-Dunedin, via ports service, will reach New Zealand about the middle of next month. She will arrive here from northern ports on a Tuesday, and when northward bound will leave port on a Monday. INDRALEMA Dt?E THURSDAY. The Tjser liner Indralema, which arrived at Auckland 6U Tuesday frbm London, via Way ports, Is exgected to continue her voyage to Napier and Wellington to-mprrow. She Ms expected here on Thursday next. Departure was taken from London on the 22nd June, and a call was made at Las Pal mas en route to Melbourne. The vessel visited Sydney, and left that port at 7 a.m. on Friday last. Coming , through the Southern Ocean the steamer encountered heavy westerly gales, whilo the voyage across the Tastnan Sea was marked by strong winds and heavy seas. On completion of discharge she will load at various Dominion ports for London, sailing finally from Wellington for the Home port nbout the' end of September. Captain Lea is in command this trip, his officers being :— Messrs W. Hodgson chief, R. B. Roberts second, H. H. Harley third, T. Leatherbarrow fourth; chief engineer Mr W. J. Crutchlow, second Mr 3. Dunning, third Mr T. Davies, fourth Mr W. Briddon; chief refrigerating engineer Mr W. P. Lloyd, .second Mr W. Morgan; assistants, Messrs W. A. J. Clarke and Harding. An arrival at Auckland yesterday was the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Kai- ■ koura, from London, via Capetown and Hobart. On completion of discharge of a part cargo at the northern port she comes on to Wellington, being due here about Wednesday nnxt.
