ALARMING OCCURRENCE
SUFFEREJRS DISOBEY ORDERS. (bt telegraph— press associatiok.) WHANGAREI, This Day. Dr. East visited Whananaki yesterday ; whefe he previously attended forty patients suffering from smallpox. 'He ! was greatly shocked to find nearly half the sufferers had disappeared from the settlement and gone across the Opuawhanga River to Wairahi. The doctor views the circumstance with alarm t as they are still infectious. They had received definite instructions not to leave the settlement. The doctor thinks the sufferers are scattered all over the country. HELP FROM MEDICAL STUDENTS (bt telegraph— press association.* DUNEDIN, This Day. | Twelve senior students from the Otago ftledical School went North this morning to assist in fighting the smallpox outbreak in the Auckland district. SYDNEY CASES (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) SYDNEY, 27th August. Three case* of smallpox are reported to-day. DELPHIC IN QUARANTINE Although the fortaight of isolation does not terminate until Monday next, it is hoped that the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner' Delphic will be able to sail from Wellington for Bluff to-morrow evening, and thus complete the period of quarantine on the trip down. Although the veseel has on board about 150 tonfc of London cargo for this port, she will not be permitted to berth, and this will be taken on to the southern port and there transhipped. Subsequently the Delphic is to proceed to Newcastle to load fox the West Coast of South America,
