In connection with the exchange of Greek and Turkish prisoners, it is impossible to approximate the number of Turkish captives. The Greeks atate that several thousands of their prisoners died during internment. No cause is given, but the deaths were possibly due to cholera. It is supposed there Were also escapes. TURKS OCCUPY A TOWN. AFTER A SMALL ENGAGEMENT. BULGARIA STOPS DEMOBDLISATION. LONDON, 20th August. News from Sofia states that the Turks have occupied Kuchuk Arda, in the Gumwljina district, after an engagement with a small Bulgarian garrison. The latter suffered some slight casualties. Bulgaria has stopped the demobilisation of her troops in the districts facing the Turkish positions. Greece has notified her willingness to evacuate Xanthi, Gumuljina, and Detleagatch to-morrow, and has, suggested that Bulgaria should occupy these territories on Friday. Bulgaria, however objects to the shortness of the notice in view of the danger of Turkish occupa* tion. v ' It is reported in Vienna, by military attaches, that the fortifications of Adrianople have been nearly restored, and that enormous supplies of ammunition and provisions have been stored in the city. RATIFICATION OF TREATY. (Received August 21, 2 p.m.) BUCHAREST, 20th August. King Peter of Servia and King Constantino of Greece have ratified the Bucharest Peace Treaty.
