MAWSON PARTY AT THE MACQUARIES
TUTANAEKAI TO TAKE STORES. Professor David, of Sydney, ha* gratefully accepted tho offer of the Government to _ despatch the Tirbanekai to the Mortuaries with stores for the members of the Mawson expedition. In the first place, it was asked- that the Hinetnoa should be sent, but the Prime Minister telegraphed that the vessel was unsuitable. In her place he offered to despatch the Tutanekai as soon as available. A reply, as follows, was received by thePxime Minister late last night from‘Mr. Eitel: —“Professor David, administrator of expedition, extremely gratified at your prompt, generous response in emergency, Tuesday or Wednesday next quite suitable. Am arranging for transhipment stares from schooner Rachel Cohen, also 20 live sheep and fruit at Bluff for islanders.” Latest advices from the Tutanokai were, that the vessel was sheltering under Mabia Peninsula fact night. She should arrive at Wellington Into to-night, but it will taka several day* to prepare tier* for the trip.
