AUCTION AND PROPERTY SALES

Messrs. J. H. Bethune and Co. will sell on Wednesday at 1 p.m., at their rooms, a catalogue of books, comprising books on New Zealand, the South Seas, and Australasia. At the same sale the library of a clergyman, who is leaving Wellington, will be offered, when a collection of theological works will be submitted. Complete catalogues may be obtained on application, and the books are now on view. The firm call for tenders for the purchase of property situated on Wellington-terrace, known as St. Andrew’s Manse. They also advertise a residential property at Khandallah, comprising land f acre in garden and lawn, with 7-roomed residence thereon fitted with all conveniences. The firm insert an amended list of business and residential properties which they have on their books for private sale, also a number of houses to let, both furnished and unfurnished, offices and storeroom accommodation.

Messrs. S. Johnston and Co. will hold a sale of household furniture at the residence, No. 37, Oriental Bay, on Wednesday, 13th August, commencing at 1.30 o’clock sharp. On Friday they will sell, on the ground close to Ripe Bridge, Petone, 100,000 ft of hardwood, kauri and totara, connecting rods, metal brackets, bolts, etc., commencing at 11 o’clock sharp. At the firm’s auction rooms, on Monday next, an auction sale of jewellery, plate, silver, china, marble clocks, bronzes, cutlery, pianos, etc., will be held. Mr. H. Davidson, the official representative of a Home firm, will personally conduct the sale.

Messrs. A. L. Wilson and Co. will sell at the residence, 85, Mein-street, on Tuesday at 1.30 p.m., under instruction from Mr. Guy Rhodes, the contents of seven rooms. On Wednesday at 1.30 the firm will hold their weekly sale of household furniture. On Thursday at 1.30 p.m. a sale of furniture will be held on behalf of Mr. J. F. J. Lemanek, at his residence, Bridge-street, Lower Hutt. The firm also insert a notice to property owners requesting particulars of houses they have for sale. Mr. S. George Nathan will offer for sale at public auction on Thursday next, at the Chamber of Commerce, at 2.30 p.m., a farm containing 142 acres at Porirua. The land adjoins the Porirua Asylum on the south side. Mr. Nathan wiQ also offer two dairy farms at Tawa Flat at the same time.

Messrs. Haroourt and Co; will sell by auction at their rooms, 195, Lambtonquay, on Wednesday, 27th August, at 2.30 p.m., sections Nos. 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, Township of Wadestown, situated in Fernhill-ter,; also the six-roomed house, situated on section No. 34. The auctioneers Btate the instructions re* ceived from the owner are to 6ell the property, upon which a low reserve has been placed. The firm also insert an amended selection of houses and land for sale by private treaty, or to be let, in Wellington and suburbs.

Messrs. Guaiter, Dykes and Co., instructed by the Post and Telegraph Department, will sell by public auction, at the Departmental Stores, Waterloo-quay, on Wednesday at 2.30 p.m., a quantity of stores, including telephones, gas stoves, motor cycles, clocks, etc. Messrs. George Thomas and Go. advertise a sale of nursery stock to be held at the Fruit Exchange, on Wednesday next, on behalf of Mr. W. B. Hardy, of Lower Hutt, and Mr. 0. C. Rasmussen, Aramoho. The sale, which starts a,t 1 p.m., includes a catalogue of 250 lots.

Messrs. Abraham and Williams will hold a sale of wholesale butchers’ plant on Tuesday, 19th August. Particulars are advertised in this issue. Messrs. C. W. Price and Co. will hold their weekly sale of furniture at 1.30 p m. on Tuesday.
