WOOL SALES
GOOD GENERAL DEMAND IN SYDNEY. By Telegraph.— Press Associatton.—Copyrlght (Received July 2, 10.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. At the wool sales, though, there was good, general demand, the market show-, ed some irregularity. Prices were occasionally a shade below those of May, especially for best lines. Greasy brought 13id ; scoured, 21j{d. Tie Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable from its London office, dated Ist inst. :— r"The sales have opened with strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. Total net quantity of New Zealand wool available is 100,000 bales. Compared with the close of last sales, prices for all descriptions ate practically unchanged." Messrs. W. and G. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cable advices from their London agents under date Ist inst. :— "Wool sales opened. Fine and medium, par to 2i per cent, lower; coarse unchanged. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from their London house under date ,lat inst. :—: — London wool sales : There* was a full attendance, at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by ' Home and Continental buyers being good and prices, as compared with the close of preceding series, ruled par to 5 per cent, lower for crossbred slipe, scoured, crossbred fine greasy crossbred, and medium greasy crossbred, crossbred lambs, coarse greasy crossbred and merino ruled about the same as at the close of previous series. The opening catalogues were fairly representative. America is not operating. The \United Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from its London agents, under date Ist July .-—"The wool sales opened to-day, and were well attended by Home, Continental, and American buyers. Coarse crossbred showed no quotable change. Fine and medium crossbred sold at par to b per cent, decline, as compared with closing rates of previous sale." Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, have been advised by their London office by cable under date ]st July as follows -.—"Wool sales have opened with a large attendance of buyers. As compared with the closing Tates of last series, fine and medium greasy cropsbred wools, change if any is in puyers' favour, and the market is easier for medium crossbred scoured wools." Messrs. Murray; Roberts, and. Company, Ltd., have this day received the following cablegram dated Ist instant from their London friends, Messrs. Sanderson, Murray, and Co. :—"Wool: — "Wool sales — July series — "Merino, poor selection offered, not sufficient to test the market. Crossbred greasy market shows no change, crossbred, elipe and scoured, market declined a shade."
