NEW ZEALAND POULTRY TRADE
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — As a newcomer to this country, it has struck me what little interest is taken in the poultry trado in Wellington and other towns in the Dominion. Coming frord the Old Country, and having spent a number of years in the poultry trade of London, one. notices this more. Surely it would f pay the poultry farmers to breed a good crossbred bird for table purposes, as to breed birds for egg production only. Again, would it not pay the Poultry Farmers' Associations to amalgamate, to have their birds packed and graded, and sent to the London markets, in the same manner in which the Russians and Americans send theirs. The frozen poultry trad© is at present in the hands of these two countries, and surely it is time the New Zealand farmers stepped in and had their share of" it. Sent to the London markets at the proper season, when English poultry is short, this trade with the Mother Country should prove- a profitable industry to her eons on this side of tho seas. — I am, etc., IMPERIALIST. 28th June, 1913.
