PORTLAND CEMENT COMPANY
(ST TBMSSEAPH— FRBS3 ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, 25th June. An extraordinary general meeting of the New Zealand Portland Cement Company was held^ today, for the purpose of considering a, proposal for the removal of the head office from Dunedin to Auckland. Mt. P. Barr/ (chairman of directors) presided. < The circular calling the meeting included a statement that it had been pointed out that the present arrangement of having the head office 60 great a distance away from the works was very disadvantageous, necessitating another office in Auckland, and practically two boards of directors, thus creating additional expense and occasional delay in deciding matters of importance. Seventy-fife per cent, of the, shares of the company were held in the North Island, and Auckland was the most^ profitable market for the company's output. The Chairman' said that it wa© proposed to have all the directors in Auckland, leaving the head office in Dunedin in accordance with the articles of association. The result of the company's operations during the last six months had been considerably better than the result for the corresponding six months last year. The motion was carried unanimously.
