INDIGNATION IN CHRISTCHURCH

TREATMENT OF A SICK MAN. (BY TELKOBAttt— FRBBS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Considerable indignation has been expressed here concerning the case of a fireman of the steamship" Maori. He was sent ashore sick, and after being examined by the medical officer at Lyttelton was sent to Christchurch Hospital. There it was 'ascertained that he belonged to Wellington, and the authorities told him to Teturn. The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital says it is the rule for each district to treat its own cases, and the matt had ample to catch the ferry steamer. The dbctor who examined him says, on the other hand, that if the man travelled he would constitute a danger to other passengers, seeing that he was suffering from advanced consumption. The man spent Tuesday night on the wharves, but arrangements were made yesterday for his accommodation.
