HOTELWORKERS' CONFERENCE

The annual conference of delegates representing the several branches of the Wellington Hotel. Club, and Restaurant Employees' Union was begun in the Trades Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Branches were represented as follow :—: — Hastings and Napier. Messrs. J. Moss and G. Thornton : Wanganui, Mesisrs. D. Conchie and H. Potter; Palmerston North, Messrs. W. P. Wright and L. Jamießon ; and eleven officers comprising the Wellington executive. Mr. George Thornton, branch president from Napier, was votod to (.ho chair, in the absence of the general president. Tuesday's business was mainly concerned with tho routine work of the union throughout the district. During the term reviewed the Wanganui branch lost a valuable worker in its secretary, the late Mr. G. Love, and the conference^ by special resolution, carried a vote of condolence with his relatives, and placed on record its appreciation of tho services of the deceased. Conference resumed this morning, and dealt with the remits from the branches, all of which were.framed in the direction of establishing a general line of policy for the future operations of the organisation. At to-day's session of the conference the secretaries of the > several branches are considering questions of details of membership, and revising and comparing books, for the purpose o£ compiling a general ' roll of membership throughout the industrial distWct.
