Patrick Kenhelly, a miner, aged seventy-three, and single, wa» discovered in the Mataura River on Sunday by Constable Henderson, of Lumsden. Kennelly, ,whq lived in a hut about two miles from Athol, had been missing since Friday, and it is, thought that he, was drowned white attempting to ford the river. The body was removed to Garston, where an inquest was held, and a Verdict returned to the effect that deceased's, death was caused by shock while trying to cross the Mataura River. AUCKLAND, 7th May. The police received information to-day that a Maori named EL Cook was killed early in the day at Umawera, through being jammed between two logs while engaged in logging.
