MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Dr. A. M 'Arthur, S.M., presided at the sittings of the Magistrate's Court to-day. John M'Kinnon, who did not appear, Was convicted of drunkenness, and had his bail (10s) estreated. Francis Rae, similarly charged, was similarly treated. One first offender was convicted and discharged for insobriety. Michael Dalton wa^ convicted of drunkenness and fined ICte. Cecil Latham Mas charged ■with ( wilfully obstructing a constable -while the latter was in charge of a I prisoner. Defendant was fined 20s. Charged with drunkenness at the Mount Cook Police Court to-day, Henry Lysaght was convicted and discharged, one first offender was leniently dealt with, and another, who failed to put in an appearance, was ordered to have his bail estreated, P. C. Ohegwin, charged with being drunk whilst in charge of a motor car on' Saturday, was convicted and fined £1, the alternative being three days' imprisonment. He was released on bail, and was again arrested on Sunday, this time for being drunk. On the second offence he was mulcted in the sum of ss, with the option, of twenty-four hours' detention. Mr. R. B. Hanlon, J.P., was on the Bench.
