YACHTING

On Saturday afternoon the Her* taunga Boating Club got off races for the Wilford and Hartley Cups at Petone. The Wilford Cup is for the best aggregate number of points secured in six races, and, although there is one more race to be contested, the Hinau has a sure lead of 15 points. The Hartley Cup, for competition among 18footers, was won by the Clara, with 2min 20sec to spare. The following are the results :— Wilford Cup (deep-keelers).—Margue-rite, ecr, 1 ; Hinau, 3£min, 2 ; Runa, 3min. 3 ; Gil Bias, llmin, 4. The course was from Petone Wharf, round Somes Island, to a point off Korokoro, then to x point near the mouth of the Hutt River, and back to .the wharf. Hartley Cup (18ft boats).— Clara, 4£min. 1; Spray, scr, 2. These were the only starters. The yacht White Heather again haa tho distinction of being the winner of an aggregate of five races held by the Wellington Cruising Ya«ht Club. Thd final of this event was sailed on Saturday last, and the points are as follow 1 --White Heather, 16 points, 1; Rohft, IS points, 2 ; Kotiri, 14 points, 3 5 Ailsa, 13 points, 4. Tho White Heather has twice won the aggregate during threeyears.
