FOUND IN THE HARBOUR
DEATH OF DAVID PICOT. Enquiry into the circumstances of the death of David Picot, a ningle man, aged 38 yfcai'B, whose body was found in the harbour on Saturday morning, was made by the City Coroner, Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M., to-day. Senior-Sergeant Mullany represented the polico. ' i A brother of .deceased, John Picob, coal merchant, Karori, stated that his brother was in partnership with him. Witness last saw deceased on tho evening of last Thursday week, tho 6th inst., and lie was then in excellent spirits. The following day a lAtel 1 from deceased was discovered in tho office. In this document deceased complained of a recurrence of severe mental worries, and expressed his intention of going down to the harbour and committing suicide. Witness knew of no reason whatsoever that would induce his brother to do away wjth himsoH. ' As a matter of fact, ho contemplated taking a trip to the Old Country. Formal evidence as to the re» covery of the body was given by Constable Hunter. A heavy iron pulley wheel was attached to the waist. A verdict was returned that deceased, while of unsound mind, committed suicide by drowning.
