ST. PATRICK'S DAY
PROCESSION AND SPORTS. Though the weather, with its strong gale from the north, has not been very propitious for the celebration of St. Patrick's Day, the wearing of the green was as conspicuous as ever for this year's holiday in honour of the Patron Saint of Ireland. As the day falls within holy week there Was no ceremonial of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebration took the form of a procession from Boulcott-street to Newtown Park. This started at about halfpast nine, with the Waterside Workers' Band in the lead, followed by St. Patrick's College Senior Cadets, Marisfc Brothers' Junior Cadets from Tasmanstreet andThorndon, and the Hibernians in their regalia. 'At Newtown Park the morning was given to amusing the young people, with sports events both for boys and girls, Brother Basil and Messrs. J. Burke and Ai Guise had charge of the girls' sport 6, and Brothers Louis and Ireneius, of the boys' events. There was a large attendance.
