R. Graves, of Francie-avenue, Kensington, had furnished in view of his approaching marriage. • Mr. Purcell, prosecuting, enid a detective had seen the" accused looking through the letter-boxes of houses, two of which were empty. Lkkr he saw them carrying a basket which the woman eaid contained washing, but which was found to contain a jemmy, keye, scissors, and various household goods. At the woman's home were found 27 pawn tickets relating to the proceeds of Beven other burglaries, the stolen property being worth several hundreds of pounds. A detective eaid the mother \vae now on probation. Her husband was a hardworking mah and allowed her a reasonable eiim, so that there was ho occasion for her to thieve. Several cases of burglary at private houses, cricket pavilions, and schools had been traced to her. The Magistrate (Mr. Sharpe), remarking that the mother had tried to drag her daughter into a life of crime, sentenced her to eighteen months' imprison' ment. The girl was bound over and cent to a home.
