She was dismayed on finding that she would be unable to be tried during the current sittings, and agitatedly declared that she would not have a faiv trial. If kept in custody her punishment would begin forthwith, as she was a hunger-striker. If alive in the summer it would be a dying woman who would be placed on trial. Mrs. Pankhurst issued a statement that since bail has been refused she repudiates the right of the authorities to try her. Englishmen have a right to be tried by their own peers, bub that right is denied to women. Therefore she will not consent to the legal farce or comply with the prison discipline.
