HER HEALTH UNSATISFACTORY HER DAUGHTER SERIOUSLY ILL. By lelegftph.— Frees Association.— Copyrljht. LONDON, 27th February. Mrs. P&nkhurst will be tried at the May assizes. She was dismayed on finding that she would be unable to be tried during the current sittings, and agitatedly declared that she would not have a faiv trial. If kept in custody her punishment would begin forthwith, as she was a hunger-striker. If alive in the summer it would be a dying woman who would be placed on trial. Mrs. Pankhurst issued a statement that since bail has been refused she repudiates the right of the authorities to try her. Englishmen have a right to be tried by their own peers, bub that right is denied to women. Therefore she will not consent to the legal farce or comply with the prison discipline. (Received February 28, 11 a.m.) LONDON, 27th February. Mrs. Pankhurst has been released on bail, having complied with certain conditions. Her trial has been transferred to the Old Bailey. (Received February 28, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 27th February. Mrs. Pankliurst undertook to refrain from further incitements. Her health is unsatisfactory. The Magistrates are indignant at Lenton's release. The prosecuting counsel explained that she waa suffering from pleurisy and pneumonia,. The Magistrates have issued ft warrant for Lenton's arrest, in order to have the Home Secretary's explanation. ATTEMPT TO BURN SPORTS PAVILION. , (Received February 28, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 27th February. Some men caught a woman painting "Votes for Women" on seats at Hampstead. They pulled down her hair and smothered her face and hair with green paint, and then released her. i A woman was arrested on the AllEngland tennis ground at Wimbledon carrying a bag of fire-lighters, shavings, and oil. Suffragettes attempted to set fire to the Rockhamptoii sports pavilion. The women escaped, but & man was arrested with a quantity of combustibles and a card inscribed : " This is done be cause Mrs. Pankhursfc was refused bail." It has been found that much cbrrespondenee has been destroyed by phosphorus in pillar-boxes at Nottingham. A suffragette literature stall at Wallsail has been wrecked A large demonstration at Coronation Hall, Worthing, was broken up, and there was exciting scuffles. The crowd attempted to duck the suffragettes in a horse-trough.
