FEDERATED SEAMEN'S UNION
(»Y TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.} • DUNEDIN, 26th February. Mr. W. Belcher, who has been secretary of the Dunedin branch of the Federated Seamen's Union since 1894, has been re-elected for a further term of 12 months, securing 1023 votes against 422 votes obtained by the other nominee, Mr. F. C. Smith. Voting for two vice-presidents for the Auckland branch resulted as follows: — James Jack, 950; Samuel Milbank, 916.; William Chalmers, 371 ; William Simpson, 344. Messrs. Jack and Milbank have therefore been elected. Two nominations were received for the position of assistant secretary of the Wellington branch, William K. Smithyman gaining 877 votes, and George H. Bowers 562. All other officers in the Dunedin, Wellington, and Auckland branches were returned unopposed (there is no branch at Lytteltoh). The whole of the members of the union are entitled to vote for any positions to be filled in each of the centres no matter where they may be domiciled.
