PRESBYTERIAN GIRLS' COLLEGE
TO THE EDtTOK. Sir,— l was pleased to see an last even* ing's Post a friendly communication from tho Press Association regarding the Presbyterian Girls' College to be erected afc Havelock Notth. But there is an inaccuracy in it which ,1 wish to, correct i Ifc says "tho site .for the, college was given, by Mr. H. M. Campbell, M.P." That is the inaccuracy. The genetotis doAor of the site is Mr. Hugh Campbell, I , of Breadalbine. He gave eight actee, jwid subsequently Mr. Mason Chambers, . in a like spiri)? of generosity, gave four adjoining acres-— these ■ twelve actek form A magnificent site for the college. They are in the immediate neighbourhood of the townfehip/ar'e in' an elevated position, and command, aft extensive and beautiful view of the fine pastoral country around. Mr. Campbell, the donor, is honorary treasurer of , the . Building Committee, and I am sure he 'will be. very, pleased to receive any subscriptions towards \h* erection and furnishing • of the college. Mr. Hugh M. Campbell, M.P. .of Pukawa, though not .the donor of thft 1 sit*, is in hearty sympathy with the pib* posal to etectthe college, and is a v«ry liberal subscriber towards it. The Rev. Mr. Grant, of Dannevtrke, convener and honoTary secretary, is ma-k» ing an earnest appeal to the ministers and others tb use theiv influence ih furtherance of this important proposal, and I, as co-convener with him, would very heartily and strongly back up his appeal. Such an institution as this college for the higher education and training of girls for home life is much needed. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church has sanctioned and etroflgly commended this undertaking, and it 3s hoped that through the generous liberality*! the people it wiU soon be brought to a successful issue,' — I am, 'etc., JAMES PATERSON, Joint Convener. February 22nd.
The . Miramar Municipal Band will play a programme of mueic on tho Polo Ground, Miramar, to-morrow afternoon.
