An example has been made of the Auckland University College Students asa warning to the general community of undergraduates against disturbance of capping ceremonies by traditional meth' ods of singing, interruption of speakers, and more objectionable demonstrations. On Wednesday the Senate declined to .impose any general penalty upon the four colleges, but to-day, by 16 votes to 4, it adopted the advice of the Professorial Board of Auckland College, and resolved to suspend the ceremony in connection with the college for one year, on account of incidents which occurred during the last ceremony in the Town Hall. The diplomas of this year will accordingly bo forwarded by post to each graduate, and degrees will be conferred by the Chancellor in the session of the Senate.
