The barometric pressure is stiil ramarkably even throughout tho DiKuinkm, ranging from 29.80 to 29.90. Winds have I been light and variable, with scattered ! showers in the north. Tho light southerly yesterday accounted fora considerable improvement in local conditions. ! The outlook, however, is not reassuring, ! for storm areas appear to be developing both to tho northwards and westward oJ New Zealand. They may neutralise one j another to a. certain extent,' but general j rain is probable, and it is likely to be | heavy.in the North Island in from about | thirty-six to fotty-eight hours. j
