FARMERS' UNION'S RESOLU- ' TIONS. (BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION,) CHRISTCHURCH, 22nd January. ( At a meeting of the North Canterbury' Provincial Executive of the New Zea*' land Farmers' Union this afternoon, the! following resolutions were adopted :— ' (1) That we, the North Canterbury Pro-, vhicial Executive of the New Zealand' Farmers' Union, recommend that the freezing companies try to settle the dispute with the Slaughtermen's Union by means of mutually appointed arhitra,-. tors; (2) that if the above course fails, the freezing companies should try to^ settle the matter with those members of the Slaughtermen's Union who uphold the principle of arbitration; (3) that, if the whole body of the Slaughtermen's Union refuses to arbitrate, then we, as a Farmers' Union, for the protection of our own occupation, ask the freezing companies to allow us to man the boards' with, free labour.
