CHINESE LOAN
.—. — ♦ . NO ADVANCES AT PRESENT. FINANCIAL STRINGENCY IN EUROPE. By Telegraph.— Press Ataociation.— Copyright. PEKIN, 2l«t January. The Six Power banking group has informed China that it will be unable to furnish advances at present owing to the financial stringency in Europe. The Chinese Minister for Finance has replied that funds are necessary early, and if the Six Powers group is unable to provide them, China will be compelled to consider other offers. tThe Pekin correspondent of The Times wrote on Bth December :— "While it is satisfactory to record that agreement has beet? attained between the Chinese Government and the bankers, the apprehension remains that the con' ditions which have not yet been disclosed, may not prove acceptable to all the Governments interested. There is a further apprehension that the Home principals of the Group may not be disposed, in view of the political situation m Europe, to provide the large advances immediately required by China."]
