CHAIRMAN'S REPORT. The Chairman reported that the tender of Mr. Henry Mainland for coiitraqfc No. 160, asphalting floom of Z ajtore, Waterloo-quay, for the sum of £739. 125, With Messrs. P., R. Baillie and M., S. Martin as aureties, had been accepted. It was decided that the seal of the bdard be affixed to the agreement of contract, The Chairman also reported that, the board's year book, 1912-13, had been issued, and had met with, general approval. • The report waft adopted. : . In answer to Mr. s Trevor, Ihe Chair-, man said the erection of another :»lip would not affect the board in any way, The charges for the new slip had ,to be agreed upon between, the board add- the Pateht Slip Company, and in that way the interests of the iron masters would be protected. The ironmasters, he added, had not produced any specific case where they could not get accommodation on the slip. Mr. 3on6e> wanted io know in view of this, why further accommodation should be provided. . In answer to another question, ; the Chairman said this class of -work', cost more in Wellington, than in any other port in New Zealand,, but on d' smaller slip the cost would be less than on a big one.
