Be/ore Mr, W. G. Riddell, S.M., afc the Magistrate's Court, this morning, William Quill, who stowed away on the fl.s. Pateena, was, fined 203,^ out of which amount the fare is to be paid. In -default of payment ho is to go to gaol for seven days. Alfred Adams was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended as long as 6« per week wo* paid on the mainfcenafico order which ho had disobeyed. For a similar offence, William Scoullar was fitted 40s, with the option of going to gaol for seven days. For disobeying tliß conditions of their prohibition orders Luwronce Power and William Brew wore fined £3 and 40s respectively, For Sunday trading Ellen Fox was fined 20s, with cost* 7s. For similar offortoOß Noil Au6tin and Ellen Gnlletly were mulcted in same sum. In the case of Ellon James the fine was halved. Auyuytino William Brown, charged with purloining a packet of dates, vaiued at sd, the property of the Harbour Board, was remanded until 11th inst., bail being allowed in one surety of £5. Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared for accused. Erneafc Albert Josephson was remanded to appear at Taihape on 11th December, on a- charge of failure to maintain his wife. George Contessa, for disobedience of a maintenance order, was sent to gaol for fourteen dayo. Cecil Aubrey William Shaw was gentenced to the same term, but in his caso the warrant is to be suspended as long as he pays 3s per week off the arrears of a maintenance order, James Patrick Haesetfc, who incited Michael Flynn to resist the police and generally made a nuistuace of himself when Constable Smith was arresting Flynn, was sent to gaol for one month. Oti a charge of obscenity he was fined £3, with the alternative of going to gaol for two weeks. . The other man in the ease— Flynn— was charged with drunkenness and with damaging an overcoat, the property of James Kennedy. On the firet charge he was fined 10s, and ort the second ordered to pay £3 16a, the value of the coat damaged. In default of payment, he wa« ordered to undergo seven days' imprisonment. For selling milk not up to the standard required by the Health Department, Harrington Brothers were fined 40s, with cost* £2 0s 6d. For similar offences, Walter Arch and John Parker were each fined &\, with costs £2 Os 6d. W. J, H. Lower, who broke the conditions of his prohibition order, was fined £2, In default of payment ho was to be tent to gaol f«f seven days. ,
